Fair Winds and Following Seas

I can't believe this deployment adventure is already two months down!   The days have been long, but it is good to see that we have two months behind us without daddy home.  Langley and Mason are doing great and adjusting fairly well.   We talk about him being away all the time and they each get a 'kiss' from him each day until he gets back.  (That is a countdown of hershey kisses!)  We have gotten to Skype with him two times since he left.  Wish we could do this more often, but it only available when their ship is at Port.  He is spending most of his deployment down in the horn of Africa doing piracy missions.  So far he has ported in Greece and Oman.  Hoping to hear from him again in early May.

Definitely long-overdue in posting some farewell pics to the blog!  Thought I needed to make it official!  It was a quiet, surreal morning embracing that the time had finally come for him to go.  The kids didn't really understand just what was happening, especial when it comes to the amount of time that he was really going to be gone!   They actually showed so much joy and excitement to see him out on his ship, while I just did what I could to hold it together and make it fun for them!  :)
A final farewell in the parking lot as we dropped him off early, early that morning!
After a good morning nap, we headed out to the park to see the ship off.  Greg had to be on the ship early and a few hours later they took off.

Tradition to man the rails in uniform as they head out for deployment.
Waving bye-bye to Daddy!  Just melt my heart son!  :)
Let the adventure continue!!!  (And the countdown!)
And here is a pic of Langley opening a package from Daddy.  He sent her a camel from Jabouti, Africa!  She was so excited!

Spring Time Fun!

We have been staying busy this month embracing the perfect spring weather here in Florida!  Lots of easter activities have been keeping us busy.  We enjoyed a morning of Easter Egg hunting with friends from our mom's club.  I love this time of year!
Mason picked up on what he was after very quickly!
Langley and her girlfriends were on the chase!
Langley seemed like a giant to me this year with her basket in hand!  Growing up so fast!
our gang of sweet children
Love the awkward attempts to capture a sister-brother pic!
And a quick group shot for Daddy!
Now for enough Egg Hunting it is time to RUN!  At the same park that morning our Stroller Strength group had their annual 'Fun Run' for the kids.
Warming up with their numbers and ready to go!
Mason was so excited at the start line.  He kept taking off before the whistle and of course when they actually blew the whistle he just stood there!  funny!
Go Mason!  He definitely had his game face on.  :)
YAY!!  With his medal. : )
Langley had SO much fun racing.  She ran two different heats, because she just couldn't get enough.  : )
fast as lightening!
So proud of my little runners!  (another shot for Greg)
