This post is mainly for this momma who doesn't want to forget my little guy just the way he is at three years old. We love him! We've had three exciting years with our man. Turning into a big boy fast over here! So many great memories with this little guy this past year.

We went to the zoo that day.
He's my little buddy while Langley is at school. We have fun. He loves to go to the Y (keeps mommy working out --sort of) and play with his friends. Such a friendly little guy! Usually when I pick him up he doesn't want to leave. And he always tells his friends he has to go now and then says good-bye to everyone over and over. :) He loves the library. Most weeks he's a front row joe during story time and likes to speak out and ask questions. He's a talker! Sometimes I'm worried what he might say! We love going to the forest. Mud Pies for preschoolers has a theme every week with lots of activities and crafts for the kids and an indoor playground which has been great this winter. And we love the outdoor musical playground and fort they have too. We love going to the zoo together and checking out the Rhino's and Prairie Dogs. He loves talking me into lunch dates at chick-fil-a(his fave) and Panera for a special treat. Hard to say no to his sweet smile!

He has endless supply of energy! He hasn't slowed down yet, always jumping, running, gliding on his bike--burning energy! When it was warm we have loved gliding his bike to pick up Langley to and from school each day. He loves to dance and sing. In the car, he is always asking me to 'turn up the music!'. He loves his favorite 'diego song' and 'pb jelly' and 'blackbirds'. He loves serenading us with his new preschool songs at the dinner table at night. (no singing at the table hasn't really been enforced at our house--sorry grandparents.) He likes to shake it and one of his favorite dance moves is a somersault...just part of his roll. :) He's not really into our new family christmas present the wii--'just dance' yet--totally surprised me. Kind of taking it shy with that one...He prefers 'dance parties'. ;)

Bullet on his bike!
He's our go-getter! Not much fear when it comes to adventure. Give him a slide, no matter the size, and he is climbing up and down. He loves to swim, and he thinks he has it all figured out. No need for momma to help him....danger-zone! ;) He is so ready to do it by himself, yet he refuses to wear a flotation device of any kind(probably better anyway). With 'go-getter' comes 'strong-willed'! This winter he tried skiing and ice skating for the first time with a smile on his face. Only got frustrated skiing when he didn't make it as far down the hill as he wanted to go, but didn't want to stop that day. And skating his feet were moving back and forth so fast while we held him along the ice. Funny!

He has a competitive little spirit--likes to win already at 3!? I guess his older sister/daddy always have him racing and running from here to there, and he figured out that winning is what he wants to do--of course. :) Sister is learning to let him win on occasion...making for a much happier brother. And now to the many years ahead of teaching them that its not about winning but about having fun! :)
Love seeing all the things that bring him joy. He has continued to love dolphins, sharks, anything in the sea, and 'hot wheels' this year. He loves to play with his bugs. Line up his planes. Throw his puzzles around. Loves Franklin the turtle stories, his Chuck book, and Superhero books. Candy Land. He's into his flashcards (copy his sister). And of course he is a sucker for the IPad...always says to me, 'mom, i'm playing a learning show'...he knows how to get me! ;)

Definitely a 'big boy' now--no baby talk around here! I put Elmo on for him, and he tells me this is a 'baby show'...then he doesn't move from the TV for an hour. :) He surprised his momma so much getting into his 'underoos'. Potty training came early and was so much easier than i thought it would be with him. Go Mason! Grandma sent some Cars underwear in the mail...and there was no turning back--ready or not. He loves independence and being a big boy, but still loves baby-ing from his momma...when it comes to getting dressed, taking shoes on and off, help going potty, and pulling his pants up. Go-getter needs to kick in here! ;) We are working on doing by ourself!

And what happened to my child that naps until she was 5?! No binky+No Crib=FREEDOM! Ha, ha. Mason is a mover! He doesn't like sitting still in his bed. When you go to tuck him in, he is constantly kicking his little legs out of his sheets. This was the year for the big boy bed, so we transitioned to that shortly after we moved here after leaping out of the pack n play in all the hotels we stayed at. He has 2 twin beds with the same bed spreads that his Uncle Todd slept on when he was a boy--special addition to his room...and surprisingly they don't smell. ;) They are getting some good use! We got rid of the binky right before Thanksgiving. We sent them to a friends baby in the mail and read lots of library books about saying goodbye to binkies. Naps were already getting dicey with the binky, and after the binky was gone seemed to be even more few and far between. So now we hope for a couple naps a week and lots of times he passes out in the car during pick up from school. I call him the 'wanderer'. :) He is supposed to stay in his room, but he ends up wandering the basement playing and reading his books. And usually gets into things he isn't supposed to! Mr. Mischief. He has colored on the walls, glue sticked the walls, gotten into red nail polish, and cut his hair! And he KNOWS he is doing something he shouldn't be...little stinker! :)) He has gone through lots of funny phases. Like stripping his PJ's. Turning all the lights on. He tells us he is afraid of the dark. And known to creep up the stairs and sit on them hiding and sometimes falling asleep on them.

Cut his bangs! At first I didn't notice and then I saw a bunch of hair on his shirt. He grinned at me and said 'don't worry mom, i checked and i still have a lot of hair left'.
|
First sleep without his binky. It was a late night! But it slowly got easier.
He's a little jokester. He loves to tell jokes. His favorite one is about a snail crossing the street. And another about two pencils talking to each other. He is also known to hide spiders and lizards while daddy is at work to startle him when he comes home. He is funny! And I love when he tells me to 'go away' or 'mom, go back down stairs to help langley' with a look on his face. Usually means he is trying to sneak some candy.

a silly phase of closing his eyes while he eats his lunch...crazy kiddo. He's so deliriously tired! He would also eat a quesadilla every day of his life if he had a choice.

My mason buddy is still my sweet little 'snuggle-bug'. He loves to cuddle, give hugs, smooches, and 'i love you's' which melts this momma's heart. He is so cheery(despite the 2 yr old whining!) and starts every morning with a big 'good mornin!' as he walks up the steps. He loves to say his prayers at night and doesn't let us forget. You are our little angel Mason man! We love you! Happy Birthday buddy!
